Each year in September the Noosa Jazz Festival attracts musicians from all over the world to perform traditional jazz, dixie, modern, swing, funk and rhythm and blues at cafes, restaurants and bars around Noosa.
Joe’s Waterhole in Eumundi attracts local, national and international musicians who make a beeline for this friendly historic pub to perform to appreciative audiences. This popular dedicated live music venue has invested in a great sound system and can seat up to 300 guests comfortably. Check out the gig guide – you may find one of your favourite acts on the bill.
For an idle afternoon of original sounds head to Peregian Beach on the first and third Sunday of the month. Bring a picnic and fellow music lovers for Peregian Originals, a free community concert on the beach foreshore. Participating musicians are required to perform their own, original material (no covers allowed).
The J is a council-run venue with a busy events calendar that at any time may include African and Latin dance nights, children’s pantomimes, author’s talks, theatre, live musicians, and travelling orchestras. The eco-designed venue has a bar for a drink or snack before the show.
Step back in time and experience the Majestic Cinema in the Noosa hinterland town of Pomona. Built in 1921, it is the oldest continuously running silent movie theatre in the world. Each Thursday evening visitors can take in a traditional silent movie, such as The Son of the Sheik starring Rudolf Valentino, accompanied by the original Compton house organ. The Majestic has recently been fully refurbished enabling it to host a range of other performances.
